ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: This event is a cross country championship. All athletes must have a current (2026) USATF membership. Memberships can be purchased online at usatf.org/membership. A verified membership requires a copy of the birth certificate that is uploaded onto the USATF website. To ensure that the registration deadline is not missed, it should be uploaded at least five (5) days prior to the registration deadline date. You will not be able to register online if the birthdate is not verified.
ONLINE REGISTRATION: The registration site is: https://www.athletic.net/CrossCountry/meet/285744/info. The registration deadline is Wednesday, November 18, 2026, at 5:00 pm. Registration fees are paid online. Day of meet registrations for youth will not be accepted.
EVENT FEE: The registration fee is $15.00 per athlete.
TEAMS: only current, registered USATF member clubs may enter a team. All athletes representing the club must be affiliated with that club as part of their USATF membership. Only athletes listed on the team roster are eligible to represent the club at the Association, Regional or National championships. Athletes that are not associated with a team are considered and designated as “unattached”.
TEAM SCORING: Up to eight (8) athletes on the team may be declared as scoring athletes. The top (5) finishers among the declared runners will score.
COMPETITION BIB NUMBERS: All competitors must wear their assigned bib number chest high on the front of the jerseys during the competition. Bib numbers will be distributed to athletes during packet pick-up.
PACKET PICK-UP: Packet pick-up starts at 8:00 am and is available until the start of the individual race.
COURSE WALK THROUGH: A walk through is scheduled to begin at 9:00 am. Course maps will be available at the packet pick-up location.
EVENT RESULTS: During competition, live results will be posted online. Final event results will be posted at www.usatfillinois.org. Go to Association Championships/All Results.
AWARDS: USATF medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age group. For youth, ribbons will also be awarded for 4th – 30th place finishers.
ADVANCEMENTS: For youth only, all teams and unattached athletes must compete in the Association meet to advance to the Region 7 Championship, Saturday, November 21, 2026, in Illinois at Lords.
From state to regional: top 5 teams plus the top 50 individuals (unattached) that are not on a team
From regional to nationals: From regional to nationals: The top five (5) teams plus the fop 30 individuals qualify to compete in the National Junior Olympics Championship.
The USATF National Junior Olympics will be contested December 12, 2026, Lafayette, Louisiana.
