General Body Meeting

Attendees:

Meeting opened at 1:00 p.m. by Dorothy Dawson.
Old Business:
- We are on target for paying Ray Vandersteen. We should be completed EOY 2012.
New Business:
- A special “Thank you” to the coaches for their support at all the meets.
- Have asked that the Midwest Zone be reduced to possibly three states.
- Happy with the performances of the Illinois athletes at the state, regional and national meets. Thanks coaches. It’s a direct reflection of your efforts with the athletes.
- A special “thank you” to Jamero Rainey for his efforts in scheduling certified officials at our state and regional meets.
- The Masters national meet will be contested at Benedictine University in August.

Dorothy called for the following committee reports:

Officials – Win Eggers
- At convention there will be an adjustment made to official testing.
- Officials testing is available online at the official’s web site.
- Official’s stipend for USATF Illinois meets
Race-walk – Diane Graham-Henry
- Five of the eight national medals received by the Elgin Sharks TC were for race-walk.
- Received a 50k grant.
- Race-walk officials training will be conducted in March 2012. More detailed information to follow.
-The race-walk state meet was contested in September with 20 athletes.
Long Distance Running – Greg Evans (absent)
- 17^th Annual Road Race Directors Conference, St. Xavier University, Chicago, IL, November 18^th, 2011.
Youth – Marc Jones
- 2011 XC Championship will be contested November 13^th at Country Club Hills Park District. A site visit yet to be completed.
- 2012 XC championship (state and regional) will be contested at Country Club Hills Park District.
- 2012 T&F championship will be held at Kankakee High School and hosted by Kankakee Track Club. A site visit will be scheduled. Items to be corrected: SP area, PV area and the evacuation plan.
- Friday Night s Special is scheduled for January 6^th, 2012 at Proviso West HS at 5:00 pm.
- Dorothy Dawson & Midwest Zone meet will be combined and will be contested February 18 – 19, 2012 at Proviso West HS.
- National Youth Indoor is scheduled for March 10-11, 2012 at Horton Field House, Illinois State University, Normal, IL.
- National Junior Olympics will be a seven day event (Mon-Sun).
- National Masters Championships will be contested starting August 6^th at Benedictine University.

Dorothy Dawson asked coaches to send her resumes if you’re interested in possibly coached a youth international team.
